Chiefs Dynasty Window Closing Claims Ex-GM

Ever since Patrick Mahomes became the full-time starter, the Kansas City Chiefs have been to at least the AFC Championship game every year and five Super Bowls, winning three.

That isn't a bad record.

But when you are at the peak of your powers for so long, as the Chiefs have been, there does come a time when you are knocked off your illustrious perch.

After the Super Bowl loss last season, many think the Chiefs' stranglehold on the NFL is loosening, and for former Tennessee Titans general manager Ran Carthon, he thinks that it is only a matter of time before Kansas City isn't the dominant force it has been.

"I think this window for the Chiefs is closing," Carthon said on NFL on CBS. "You have some key components on this team; Chris Jones is getting older and still nursing the knee injury, you have Travis Kelce entering the final year of his deal, and he is making more money off the field than he is on the field."

"I think that window is closing. Now again, you look at them reimagining their offense, and you still have Rashee Rice, you have Xavier Worthy, you sign Hollywood Brown. You have these explosive weapons, but I do think the window for the Chiefs is closing."

So if the Chiefs' window is closing, how many years does this current crop have left?

Two or three years? Given the track record of the Chiefs and Mahomes, one could see another Super Bowl win in there somewhere.

But that is the nature of the NFL, the top teams aren't supposed to be at the top for prolonged periods, but when you have a generational talent like Mahomes, as long as he's healthy, Kansas City will be Super Bowl contenders.

If the window is closing, then the Chiefs might want to make sure they get every last bit of success they can out of this current group.

We aren't writing them off after a bad Super Bowl loss, but it is clear that many think the franchise's aura might have lost its shine.

But Mahomes and Reid are the two who can get it back.
