Rihanna is releasing new music...for the Smurfs movie

We don't know who needs to hear this, but Rihanna is a Smurfette. See, here's proof:

That's right, they are doing another Smurfs movie, and the intention is for it to be a summer blockbuster. The Rihanna of it all, though, is the selling point. For proof, just check out this trailer:

It maybe doesn't bode well for "Smurfs" that the trailer is mostly hooked to Rihanna having a new song "Friend of Mine" on the soundtrack. That being said, from the "beggars can't be choosers" department, this is actually significant. "Friend of Mine" is Rihanna's first new song in three years. That's right, we've been devoid of new music from Bad Girl RiRi in roughly 1,000 days.

Plus, you can listen to "Friend of Mine" without having to actually see "Smurfs!" It's all good! Although, John Goodman is voicing Papa Smurf. And Nick Offerman is voicing Papa Smurf's brother, um, Ken. Okay, "Smurfs" seems like it is going to be terrible, but new Rihanna music is new Rihanna music.
